G Is For...The Goonies!

Don't be one of those awkward people who will say that 'The Goonies' begins with a T, you drop 'the' from the title ok?

Now that's out of the way...

Are the Goonies good enough?

Well Cyndi Lauper thinks so and so do I!

Several years ago I didn't even know what this film was all about but found myself being drawn to the DVD in Virgin Megastore in Cardiff and decided to leave it a few times. Then one day I went back and bought it. I figured that something with treasure, adventure and a geeky group of kids had to be fun right? Also it starred Sean Astin and Corey Feldman who I knew from Lord Of The Rings and Stand By Me so that basically sold it!

So the Goonies find themselves a map which leads them on an adventure to find the lost treasure of One-Eyed Willie...which the producers say is not an innuendo...right...we believe you ;)

This is a classic 80's film from Chunk's infamous truffle shuffle to Sloth's 'hey you guys!' There are many awesome films from this era such as Stand By Me and Flight of the Navigator. The 80's are great viewing so go and do some research.

The Goonies earned a cult following and you can even buy T-shirts with the truffle shuffle and Sloth on now. Apparently Sloth's mum dropped him on his head several times as a baby, hence his appearance.

Oh and don't forget Data's 'Booty traps!'

Truffle Shuffle!

There's actually some pretty impressive acting here and there's not many people I know that didn't enjoy this film.

Cyndi Lauper sang the theme song and made a pretty long music video which includes WWE stars Rowdy Roddy Piper, Classy Freddie Blassie, the Iron Sheik, Captain Lou Albano and Andre the Giant!

Of course there's plenty of perils along the way for the Goonies including battling crooks and avoiding traps in the depths of caverns. This is a great adventure for all the family! There's not a lot you have to say about this film other than the title so stop what you're doing and go watch it!

Hey you guys!
