P Is For...Prince Planet!

No one can compare,
To the prince who wears,
A medallion on his chest!

Here's another 60's japanimation and unlike Marine Boy this one was aired all in classic black & white. After discovering MB several years ago and going through my 60's phase I discovered this series online and set about trying to obtain a copy. I was successful although 4 episodes of the collection are missing and I don't think there's many full sets out there.

So Prince Planet (Planet Boy Papi in Japan) is an alien who visits Earth to see if the planet meets the required standards to be accepted into the Galactic Union Of Worlds and ends up fighting the forces of evil instead such as Warlock and later Krag.

Although he assumes a human persona called Bobby, the hero can transform using his magical pendant that gives him
extra strength and armour. However the pedant only has a limited amount of energy so can run out if overused.

Prince Planet is joined by a group of earthlings, Diana, Dan Dynamo and Ajibaba to fight the forces of evil so his friends are on hand if he gets into trouble.

The series has a cult following but I prefer Marine Boy. I'm not too fussed on black & white shows and the voice acting isn't the best although saying that; the dubbing can be hilarious at times with the sounds some of the characters come out with. Prince Planet is still a classic though.

Oh and if Prince Planet was in colour he'd look like this:

Of course if a complete set does appear I would be tempted to purchase it...
