Murdered: Soul Suspect
There's always that one game where you wait for the price to drop before buying it because you heard it's ok but not great. That's the case with Murdered: Soul Suspect.
I purchased the game on the PS4 and had a good deal for it.
The story is as follows: The character you control is Detective Ronan who is investigating a string of recent murders. However, he ends up being murdered himself but remains behind as a ghost until he has solved the case and who bumped him off.
It doesn't start too bad, exploring the crime scene, possessing a host of people along the way, reading their thoughts, influencing their minds. However it can get tiresome after a while.
Each scene has clues for to you locate to piece together what happened. Also you come across many other ghosts along the way and help them to clear up any unfinished business so they can move on to the afterlife. Some of these mysteries are interesting.
Of course, being a ghost you can pass through walls and other items but not every wall in the game was passable even though it's explained why. Also to ascend stairs you need to actually walk up them...can't ghosts float?
After a while our hero teams up with a teenage girl who
happens to be a medium and can see him unlike many other living beings. As the game progresses though I did find it quite repetitive.
You receive ghost powers but they don't amount to much. You're able to feel and reveal objects of the past and teleport a short distance but none of these granted me that wow moment.
I also managed to figure out who the killer was before the end, go me!
It's not the longest game but long enough for it's content.
Towards the end I felt that most of the gameplay involved me picking up collectibles with details of the killer and other case files which became tedious.
Murdered: Soul Suspect is a good game with good ideas but just not executed as well as it could have been.
Oh and those demons were very annoying!
