U Is For...Ultros!

There are many classic Final Fantasy characters but a purple talking octopus named Ultros is definitely in my top 10 of all time! Ultros is a recurring character in FFVI, often turning up to cause trouble for the heroes. He's seen more as a comedy act rather than a truly evil villain although he does think very highly of himself.


Ultros also has some unique one liners and some not so very good jokes. You have to fight him several times during the game but he's not the best fighter in the world so is not much of a problem. He'll call in his 'muscle' Chupon, also known as Typhon, when he gets in trouble.

Ultros has quite the fan base and there's a music video on YouTube called 'The Ultros Boogie' that has proven quite popular.

I even bought my best friend an Ultros t-shirt for Christmas once.

Due to his popularity Ultros appears in DLC for Final Fantasy XIII-2 as an opponent in the arena and once again in Final Fantasy XIV as a receptionist at the coliseum.

Final Fantasy VI is one of the best in the series and is definitely worth trying out. It's safe to say Ultros has quite the cult following and will remain popular for quite some time to come...
