X Is For...The X-Files!

The truth is out there!
Trust no one!

I can still hear the theme music playing in my head as agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully appear on screen in the opening titles. The X-Files was a TV phenomena and is in my top 5 favourite series of all time.

Although, I wasn't always allowed to watch it when I was a kid. Why? Because my parents thought it was too scary. So what used to happen was this; my parents would watch the episode first and then decide whether it was alright for me to see it the next day. You never knew if a scary monster or alien would appear on it see.

I think my Dad did the same for South Park too.

Well when I grew older I collected the series on DVD so I could watch each and every episode again and I loved it.

The storyline features two FBI agents investigating the unexplained and paranormal known as the X-Files. Mulder and Scully go on many cases uncovering bizzare phenonemen, Governement conspiracies and attempt to uncover the truth behind alien life.

It's a very entertaining show starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. I met the latter at New York Comic Con back in October although she seemed quite distant and not very warm. However, you can't deny the fact that she's a great actress as is David.

I always enjoyed unexplained mysteries, ghosts, monsters etc so this series was right up my street. There was also a good deal of comedy involved.

Who can forget some of the classic characters this show introduced us to? The Lone Gunmen, Krychek, The smoking man. The Lone Gunmen had their own spin-off series that would only last one season.

How about Mulder's obsession to uncover the truth behind alien life after believing his sister was abducted by aliens and Scully's strong denial of extraterrestrial life as she strongly believes in God.

The show featured some very strong storylines and earned a cult following. Fans are still asking for more now!

The X-Files would go on for 9 seasons, spawn 2 films and a few video games. Two of which, I own. There was a live action, interactive adventure on PC and an action game for the PS2.

The closest show to The X-Files today is probably Supernatural which has made a few references to Mulder and Scully over the years.

I'd like to see a third film. I think the show lost a bit of its charm in the last two seasons after introducing two new agents and rarely showing Mulder's character. Let's hope this happens.

Well actually it seems something is happening! I wrote the above last week and found out yesterday that 6 more episodes of X-Files are being produced this summer! Yes! I'm looking forward to that! Both David and Gillian will be resuming their roles. Maybe it was fate that I decided to write about X-Files!

So there you have it and remember...
