White Knight Chronicles 2

Today in work we encountered problem after problem after problem after...you get the picture right? It has been a very frustrating day to say the least which is why the idea popped into my head to write about something that has frustrated me in the past. So as the cogs turned the first game I thought of was this- White Knight Chronicles 2, the sequel to one of my favourite RPG's.

Why? Because the game was frustratingly difficult! The first one was easy so for the sequel they attempted to make it more challenging- too challenging! Some of the bosses were ridiculously hard and I almost ended up throwing my control pad across the room. As a matter of fact I have never thrown my control pad although I have punched whatever was nearby in frustration. Luckily never a person though!

For the game you create an avatar that joins up with the main protagonist, Leonard, who becomes able to transform into a 'very tall' white knight after discovering a gauntlet that serves as a pact with the knight. Of course it's also your usual story of a Princess ending up being kidnapped and Leonard and friends attempting to save her.
Leonard begins to transform
So the first game was fun and I enjoyed the story, gameplay and music...then came the sequel. Yay I thought to myself...nay I thought after. Now I love a good challenge but this game went OTT on the difficulty level. For example at least twice in the game you face a few bosses in a row. I've done this before of course, think there was a trio of bosses in Final Fantasy 9 that you had to defeat. That was fine. After you defeat the first two bosses in this one however you use Leonard to face the final one. That's great right? He's the main character after all! Yes...except he was taken ill several hours back and hasn't been playable or levelled up during that time where as the enemies have. This proved to be rather tough. Cheers Leonard, you could have stayed in bed a bit longer!

And don't even get me started on Brimflamme! This boss fight took a decent amount of time and if you died a few times like I did then you had to do it over and over again. Very frustrating! Oh and Leonard comes back to help in this fight too...sigh. I liked him in the first game! I was even becoming obsessed with trying to defeat this boss at one point, was driving myself crazy!

Brimflamme!!! Grrrrrr!!!!
There were errands you could run for people too like little sidequests. However some of these involved passing on information between two NPC's by running back and forth between the two who could be on opposite sides of the city. Yeah this happens in a lot of games but this quest was ridiculous! The amount of times you had to run back and forth was beyond!

I could go on but I feel like I would rant and rant and rant because the game did stress me out. It's because of this game that I decided that I would only play games that I find fun from now on.

Batman: Arkham Origins anyone?
