Congratulations! By opening this blog you have received a bronze trophy! No really! There it is on the right! So you feel happy now yes? Or do you?
So trophies were introduced a few years back and have been included in games ever since, detailing how you can earn them but also listing some as hidden. Basically if you complete an objective in a game you hear the 'ping' and bingo the trophy is yours! Well done!
However, is there really any point to them? After you have them then what? It's not like you can place them on your shelf at home, they're just part of your profile on PSN. Ok so you can show off and other players can see how talented you are...or that you don't have a social life.
There are 4 different types you can obtain- bronze, silver, gold and the ultimate platinum. You will always have more bronze than silver, more silver than gold and more gold than platinum. Some you get by simply starting a new game while others are a lot harder to achieve.
Don't get me wrong though, I do like obtaining some trophies and aimed to get at least 1 platinum. Well I ended up obtaining 11. It feels great to realise you've beaten a game 100% especially if it's a favourite. But what about after that? What have you achieved in life?
If you have reached this point congratulations! You have earned a silver trophy! Here it is:
Now if there was more to it i'd be more likely to constantly mine for trophies. It would be cool if you could trade them in for points for example on the PSN store! To get a discount off a game or something, then i'd be trying to gain them! Or what if they sent you a cheque of a £100 for every platinum you obtained!? Ha! I know, that one is a bit of a stretch!
My problem is that there are so many awesome games out there to play that I don't have the time to hunt for every single trophy in a game. Especially now i've already achieved a fair few platinums. I have a big back log...but I still have a social life don't worry.
But hey if you collect trophies then good for you. This is just my opinion. I will aim for a platinum on PS4 but then i'll call it a day. Will probably still have a few PS3 games to finish when the PS4 is released, need to get a move on.
That's the end of the article and you have now earned a gold trophy for reaching the end:
Oh! And because you've collected all trophies have a platinum on me!
