Batman: Arkham City

Lately I have been playing Arkham Origins so feel this is an apt time to talk about why I love the ending to Arkham City. The main reason I love the ending? Well...
THE JOKER DIES!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah you heard that correctly. I was not expecting it whatsoever! I mean what is Batman without the Joker? What is Joker without the Batman? The two are like salt and pepper, fire and ice, me and chocolate! Which is why for the 3rd Arkham game they made it a prequel so Joker could feature in it. That's my reasoning anyway.
But man what an ending!
The only way I would have been more shocked is if Batman had died. But that will never happen right? He's Batman!
Joker had been poisoned in the previous game due to the Titan formula which was mutating in his blood and gradually killing him. So he poisons Batman with the same formula in hoping that he will go and get the antidote which he does.
It's not only Joker that dies either. Talia is killed by him after she stabs a fake Joker who turns out to be Clayface! Then Batman drinks the antidote but Joker attacks him which results in the vial of antidote smashing and leaving no cure for Joker.
Batman had also destroyed Ra's Al Ghul's Lazarus Pit so Joker couldn't use that to heal himself either. Then come the last two sentences that I think were great to end the game!
Batman: You want to know something funny? Even after everthing you've done...I would have saved you.
Joker: (laughing and coughing) That actually is pretty funny...
I found this ending shocking but brilliant. Very rarely does something surprise me this much, especially a video game. If you haven't played them, hopefully you have otherwise the ending is now spoilt, I did warn you, I highly recommend this trilogy. They're awesome and finally we have a very decent Superhero game!
