I remember shouting that every time my friends and I set off down the street on our bikes heading into an adventure that was only limited by imagination. Of course we had been watching Biker Mice From Mars first, the cartoon we had learnt the phrase from.
You used to do that too right?
Back in the 90's my bike was whatever I wanted it to be. Whether that be a horse, a spaceship or a motorbike I always enjoyed being whisked away into a world of endless possibilities.
As I grew older I stopped riding my bike and only recently started going to a spin class which then inspired me to dig the old bike out of the garage. These days it's much harder going and I no longer pretend it's anything more than just a bike. Maybe I should? It might help with those hill climbs!
So Biker Mice From Mars was a cartoon about 3 mice from Mars....well that was self explanatory. Maybe I can end the post here? Haha
These mice were Throttle, Vinnie and Modo who fled their planet after it was invaded by the Plutarkians, an alien race of fish like creatures. Probably smell bad too! Of course they were after resources after using up all of their own as is often the case for these scenarios.
They crash land on Earth and end up protecting it against the Plutarkians who target it next. These are led by Limburger who disguises himself as a human because a huge fish walking down the street might raise some eyebrows and some rods to say the least. Let's hope he didn't wander by a fish & chip shop!
He hires Grease Pit and Dr. Karbunkle to work for him. I remember Grease Pit being quite clumsy and Karbunkle being a creepy scientist. There were more enemies but these are the main ones that stick in my mind.
Being 'Biker Mice' the three have their own bikes which they ride into battle armed with guns and missiles. Grease Pit has his own bike too. I actually had the bikes and action figures of Throttle, Vinnie, Modo, Limburger, Grease Pit and more. Ah man fun times!
The Biker Mice are helped by a mechanic called Charley Davidson (a nice play on Harley Davidson) who helps fix their bikes up for them when needed. Vinnie also has a crush on her.
This series was aired in 1993 and a new continuation of the series was aired in 2006. I've never seen it but apparently it continues the story.
It was a great cartoon and I often pretended my bike was just like theirs and I had a cool catch phrase to use.
Too bad I'm grown up now and can't say such childish things when riding my bike...
...well maybe one more time won't hurt right? ;)
As with all the old classic 90's cartoons, the theme song will always be stuck in the back of my mind along with TMNT, Pokemon & Crystal Maze :P
ReplyDeleteI used to have some TMNT figurines as a kid but for some strange reason though i used to melt the heads on my lamp.. #TurtlePower
Haha those poor turtles! What else did you used to burn? Yeah some of those theme songs are catchy!
