Bucky relates to two characters as far as I know.
Bucky Barnes and Captain Bucky O'Hare.
Lately I've seen a lot of tweets about people automatically thinking of Bucky O'Hare instead of Cap's sidekick when the name Bucky is mentioned.
Growing up watching Bucky O'Hare I am one of those people. I loved the cartoon, video game and action figures. If you mentioned the other Bucky to me I would have looked at you stupid and asked 'Bucky Barnes who?'
I had never read any Captain America comics during that part of my childhood. I did have Bucky O'Hare comics though. I think I cut them up in the end. Not because they were bad but I liked to cut out characters and stick them on my wall.
The two Bucky's couldn't be more different. One is a green hare fighting against an army of toads in space with a crew of mammals plus an android and a human. The other is a young soldier fighting alongside Captain America against the Red Skull and the Nazis.
Well I guess they are similar in fighting evil but that's really the only similarity.
I guess the younger generation will think of O'Hare and the older Bucky Barnes seeing as the comics date back to the 40's!
So I've mentioned this before but Bucky O'Hare was a big part of my childhood and will always be the first Bucky that springs to mind when the name is mentioned. Perhaps it's about time they released the series on a Blu-Ray or made a movie?
